Corrections

If a file names your company or you, and you think a sentence in it is wrong, write to corrections@termsapply.fyi. Give the file number, the sentence as it stands, and the evidence that it is wrong. We answer within five working days.

  • What we will do. If the sentence is wrong, we correct it in the open: the file’s revision date changes, and the corrections register prints the sentence as published, as corrected, and why. If the sentence stands and you disagree with it, we print your reply in full on the file’s Reply page.
  • What we will not do. Remove a file, or a finding, because it is inconvenient. We do not change a published sentence silently, and we do not take a file down to make an error disappear.

Right of reply

Any company whose service is the subject of a file may have a reply printed in full and unedited on that file’s Reply page, with our note beside it saying what the reply does and does not address. The file’s header and its revision log record the reply and the date it arrived.

  • In full. Every message the company sends in reply is printed in full, whatever its length, with the date it arrived. We do not cut, shorten or edit it.
  • Subject. A reply answers the findings of the file: the sentence we quote, what the app did, and the evidence. Our note beside it says which findings it addresses.
  • Timing. We send our findings before publication and wait at least five working days. A reply, or a further message, that arrives later is added with its date, and the file’s revision date changes.

Hosting and data

We set no cookies, run no analytics and keep no access logs; our host processes each request in order to deliver the page, and we do not read that data. If that ever changes, this paragraph changes first.

The site is a set of static files hosted on Cloudflare Pages and served from Cloudflare’s network. The host’s data region is not set.

Licence of the content

Our own words, the findings, notes and corrections, are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0): anyone may copy and adapt them with credit to termsapply and a link to the file.

The policy text we quote, and the screens of their apps, remain their owners’. We reproduce them for the purpose of criticism and review, and no licence of ours covers them. The typefaces have their own licences.
